Last chapter of the journey (for now)
As I'm entering the last two weeks of my Mexican journey, I'm feeling so incredibly at peace. This is the first time I have booked a return flight long before embarking on this trip, which is something new for my head to wrap itself around. Of course the option of staying longer is there and has crossed my mind more than once since Mexico has gotten me under her spell.
But I have to say I enjoy having a place to go home to, even just for a little bit. Flying back, rolling into my apartment in Brussels, not sure if I'm hanging out there for a while longer or if I'll just be emptying my room until all that's left fits in a backpack.
The New Zealand visa has been burning in my pocket, as I'm still figuring out if maybe Mexico could be my new home. If I lessen the weight of material stuff and worries keeping me in one place, the lighter I am to just float wherever feels right.
For now, I wouldn't want to be anywhere but here. San Cristobal De Las Casas is enchanting me, I catch myself booking an extra night in the hostel every day. In less than a week I'll be swimming in the laguna of Bacalar with eyes full of love and a heart exploding. The last chapter of this journey, and then: back to Brussels. Strangely, the thought of being back makes me smile like a maniac as well. Aaahh, all the good things!
